Regular Season Round 1: Denso Iris - Chanson V-M 64-52

The game had a very big importance for fifth-ranked Denso Iris as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Toyota Antelopes) loss. Denso Iris defeated 4th placed Chanson V-M in Kariya 64-52. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Denso Iris. Chanson V-M was better in fourth quarter 15-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Chanson V-M 38-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Maki Takada (183-89) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Forward Tamotsu Huziwara (175-87) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Makoto Rin (168-88) answered with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) added 12 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Chanson V-M. Four Chanson V-M players scored in double figures. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Fujitsu RW and Mitsubishi K. Chanson V-M at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with Airlines R. and Aishin AW. Chanson V-M will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Denso Iris will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked Chanson V-M at Shizuoka.
