Regular Season Round 4: Obras - Penarol 95-81

There was a small surprise in Buenos Aires where fifth ranked Obras (3-2) beat 5th ranked Penarol (3-2) 95-81 on Monday. Penarol was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 33-18 charge of Obras, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Penarol's 18 and made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Penarol was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of international power forward Juan Gutierrez (205-83) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Pablo Espinoza (195-87) who added 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international forward Leonardo Gutierrez (200-78) responded with 27 points and 7 rebounds and guard Facundo Campazzo (180-91) scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Obras and four Penarol players scored in double figures. Penarol's coach Sergio Hernandez tested ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Obras have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Penarol. Obras will face again Penarol (#4) in Mar del Plata in the next round.
