Regular Season Round 1: TTU - Tarvas 84-81
Date: October 5, 2011
Very expected game in Tallinn where bottom-ranked BC Rakvere (0-2) was edged by leader TTU/Kalev (1-0) 84-81. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-18. But BC Rakvere won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 31 personal fouls committed by BC Rakvere helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for forward Illimar Pilk (195-88) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds. American center Andrew Arnold (208-86, college: Lewis-Clark) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Latvian center Kaspars Cipruss (210-82, agency: Interperformances) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and center Reinar Hallik (208-84) added 18 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for BC Rakvere. Four BC Rakvere players scored in double figures. Despite that victory TTU/Kalev went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with Parnu. BC Rakvere at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. TTU/Kalev's next round opponent will be league's leader Tartu Ulikool on the road and it will be for sure the game of the week. BC Rakvere will play against Valga/CKE (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
