Regular Season Round 3: Mallorca - Menorca 100-91

We should mention about the upset which took place in Mallorca, where higher ranked Menorca Basquet (1-2) lost to eighteenth ranked Basquet Mallorca (2-1) in a road game 91-100 on Friday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Menorca Basquet trailed by 12 points at halftime and as many as 13 after three quarters before a 27-23 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 91-100 at the end of the game. Basquet Mallorca made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Menorca Basquet was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was point guard Joan Carles Bivia (185-85) who scored 21 points. American forward Shaun Green (203-87, college: Utah, agency: Limelight Hoops) chipped in 20 points. Five Basquet Mallorca players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Oliver Arteaga (211-83) who recorded 22 points and 8 rebounds and swingman David Navarro (192-83) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Menorca Basquet's coach let to play eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Basquet Mallorca moved-up to second place, which they share with 9 other teams. Loser Menorca Basquet dropped to the twelfth position with two games lost. Basquet Mallorca will face league's second-placed Tenerife on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Menorca Basquet will play against CB Clavijo (#8) in Logrono and be promoted back to the ACB just one year after relegation.
