Regular Season Round 2: Leuven - Aalstar 84-78

There was a change at the D1 leadership position after last games. Round 2 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Okapi Aalstar (1-1). They were defeated by eighth ranked Leuven Bears (1-1) 84-78 on Friday night. Okapi Aalstar trailed by 18 points after 3 quarters before a 27-15 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 78-84 at the end of the game. Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP, agency: Court Side) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Brandon Freeman (191-83, college: UALR) chipped in 17 points during the contest. Five Leuven Bears players scored in double figures. American guard Stefon Jackson (196-85, college: UTEP) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Christopher Copeland (203-84, college: Colorado) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Leuven Bears left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Okapi Aalstar. Okapi Aalstar will play next round against VOO Verviers-Pepinster trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Leuven Bears will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
