Regular Season Round 1: LF Basket - 08 103-70

There was a change at the Basketligan leadership position after last games. The most important game of round 1 took place in Lulea between two undefeated teams where LF Basket crushed 08 Stockholm (0-1) 103-70 on Friday night. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game without a history. LF Basket led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Justin Safford (205, college: Missouri, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and American-German center Urule Igbavboa (206-87, college: Valparaiso) chipped in 20 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Five LF Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Johan Akesson (210-84, agency: Warren Sports International) responded with 28 points and 8 rebounds and guard Gustav Nystrom (189-89, college: Hope, MI) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. LF Basket (1-0) left bottom position moving up to second place, which they share with Sundsvall and Uppsala. 08 Stockholm at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Norrkoping. 08 Stockholm will play next round against strong Sundsvall Dragons trying to make it back to the top of the standings. LF Basket will try to continue on its current victory against eighth ranked KFUM Jamtland on the road.
