Regular Season Round 2: Sparta - Etzella 64-66

A very interesting game took place in Bertrange. It ended with only two-point home defeat of Sparta (0-2) to top-ranked Etzella (2-0) 66-64 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Sparta took an 16-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Etzella took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 2 points. The former international swingman Nelson Delgado (188-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Nigerian forward Corey Raji (198-88, college: Boston Coll., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Etzella players scored in double figures. Etzella's coach Tom Johnson allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Kasey Ulin (184-82, college: Dickinson St.) replied with 23 points and 5 rebounds and the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tennessee Tech) added 19 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sparta. Etzella keeps a position of league leader, which they share with T71 and Amicale. Sparta at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. Etzella's next round opponent will be Residence (#7) in Bereldange where they are favorite. Sparta will play on the road against Musel Pikes in Stadrbredimus.
