The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Tampereen Pyrinto (1-1) in Helsinki on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by fifth ranked Torpan Pojat (2-1) in overtime 99-89. The hosts were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 17-7. Torpan Pojat outrebounded Tampereen Pyrinto 42-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. 26 personal fouls committed by Tampereen Pyrinto helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Jonathan Heard (198-86) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. International forward Kimmo Muurinen (202-81, college: UALR) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Damon Williams (201-73, college: Colorado St.-Pueblo) replied with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and his fellow American import forward Brant Bailey (202-77, college: Wisc.-Stevens Point) added 21 points in the effort for Tampereen Pyrinto. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tampereen Pyrinto's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Torpan Pojat moved-up to fourth place. Defending champion Tampereen Pyrinto dropped to the sixth position with one game lost. Torpan Pojat are looking forward to face league's second-placed Kauhajoen Karhu in Kauhajoki in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Tampereen Pyrinto will have a break next round.
