Regular Season Round 1: Avila - Las Rozas 74-77

Date: October 8, 2011
An interesting game took place in Avila where leader Las Rozas (1-0) edged by three points 3rd placed Fontedoso Carrefour (0-1) 77-74 on Saturday night. It was a big embarassment for a home team. Fontedoso Carrefour was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Fontedoso Carrefour was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-20 charge of Las Rozas, which allowed them to win the game. B.CALVENTE JOSE MARIA stepped up and scored 27 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Croatian guard Aleksandar Ugrinoski (192-88, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the losing side Guinean forward Cheick Sekou Conde (203-92) responded with 16 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Matt Robertson (206-87, college: Rollins, agency: Duran International) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Las Rozas keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 5 other teams. Loser Fontedoso Carrefour still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 5 other teams. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
