Regular Season Round 2: Ikaros Kalitheas - PAOK 67-50

Everything could happen in Glyfada at the game between two tied teams. Both top-ranked Esperides and 6th ranked PAOK had identical 1-0 record. This time Esperides used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Thessaloniki 67-50 on Saturday night. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Esperides. PAOK was better in second period 15-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American center Latoya Williams (193-87, college: Chipola JC) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds. Guard Roula Kalogirou (172-81) contributed with 11 points and 5 assists for the winners. American guard Joanna Barnes (175-83, college: American) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Anna Stamolabrou (165-95) added 12 points in the effort for PAOK. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Esperides (2-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted PAOK dropped to the fifth place with one game lost. Esperides will face Apollon Kal. (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play against DAS Ano Liosa (#11).
