Regular Season Round 3: Lyon - Challes 74-77

A very interesting game took place in Lyon. It ended with only three-point home defeat of bottom-ranked Lyon (0-3) to leader Challes-les-Eaux (3-0) 77-74 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lyon won third quarter 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Challes-les-Eaux made 26-of-33 charity shots (78.8 percent) during the game, while Lyon only scored six points from the stripe. 26 personal fouls committed by Lyon helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American center Mistie Mims (191-83, college: Duke) who scored 22 points and 5 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Danielle Page (188-86, college: Nebraska) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds. Four Challes-les-Eaux players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was S.Mame marie who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Turkish power forward Leigh Aziz (186-79, college: Syracuse) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Challes-les-Eaux have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Lattes Montp. and Arras. Newly promoted Lyon still closes the standings with three games lost. Challes-les-Eaux's next round opponent will be Mondeville (#4) at home. Lyon will play against Bourges (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
