Regular Season Round 3: Denso Iris - Toyota A. 69-71

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Denso Iris (2-1) in Kariya on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by fifth ranked Toyota Antelopes (2-1) 71-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Denso Iris. The guests trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 20-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a good game for international guard Maya Kawahara (167-87) who led her team to a victory with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Ryoko Yano (178-78) contributed with 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Toyota Antelopes players scored in double figures. International center Maki Takada (183-89) answered with 31 points and 9 rebounds and forward Tamotsu Huziwara (175-87) added 19 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Denso Iris. Toyota Antelopes moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Denso Iris. Toyota Antelopes will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Denso Iris will play again on the road against Toyota Antelopes in Nagoya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
