Regular Season Round 1: Tochigi Brex - Mitsubishi DD 58-94

The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Tochigi Brex (1-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by sixth ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (1-1) 94-58. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi Dolphins. Tochigi Brex managed to win third quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Tochigi Brex's 34. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) contributed with 11 points and 6 assists for the winners. International guard Takuya Kawamura (193-86) answered with 14 points and American forward Lamar Rice (203-82, college: Georgetown, KY) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tochigi Brex. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mitsubishi Dolphins left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Tochigi Brex. Mitsubishi Dolphins is looking forward to face Panasonic Trians (#7) in Osaka in the next round. Tochigi Brex will play on the road against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark (#2) in Fuchu and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
