There was a minor upset when Hamamatsu Phoenix (1-1) lost on the road to Yokohama (1-1) 69-63 on Sunday. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. American players dominated also this game. It was a very good performance for forward Justin Burrell (235-88, college: St.John's) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Marcus Simmons (198-88, college: USC) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Guard Wayne Arnold (193-84, college: Tennessee St., agency: ACMT) answered with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and forward James Peters (204-81, college: UNLV) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for Hamamatsu Phoenix. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Despite that victory Yokohama went down to second position due to points difference, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Hamamatsu Phoenix. Yokohama will face Saitama Broncos (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Hamamatsu Phoenix will play against Chiba Jets (#7).
