Regular Season Round 4: Niigata - Aishin AW 58-74

Aishin Wings has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Tokyo, where they defeated Airlines R. (1-3) 74-58. The game without a history. Aishin Wings led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. The winners were led by power forward Kumi Yamamoto (179-85) who scored that evening 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Hitomi Takasaki (168-86) supported her with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Aishin Wings' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks by international forward Reika Takahashi (177-88) did not help to save the game for Airlines R.. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) added 22 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. It was the only win of guest team this round and in all other games host teams recorded victories. Aishin Wings left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with defeated Airlines R. Aishin Wings will play against league's leader Fujitsu RW in Kawasaki in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Airlines R. will play against Mitsubishi K. (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
