Regular Season Round 2: Valencia - CAI Zaragoza 82-66

Date: October 12, 2011
We should mention about the upset which took place in Valencia, where bottom-ranked CAI Zaragoza (0-1) lost to eighteenth ranked Valencia Basket (1-1) in a road game 66-82. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. CAI Zaragoza was better in fourth quarter 29-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. 24 personal fouls committed by CAI Zaragoza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. International power forward Victor Claver (207-88) notched 11 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Australian-Irish center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) supported him with 14 points. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds by naturalized Brazilian center Rafael Hettsheimer (206-86) did not help to save the game for CAI Zaragoza. American guard Bracey Wright (191-84, college: Indiana, agency: Priority Sports) added 15 points for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players saving starting five for next games. Valencia Basket left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with 7 other teams. CAI Zaragoza at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be Meridiano Alicante (#13) at home and are hoping to win another game. CAI Zaragoza will play against the league's second-placed Caja Laboral in Vitoria.
