No shocking result in a game when third ranked Prievidza (3-1) beat at home 5th ranked Komarno (1-2) 78-73 on Wednesday. Komarno trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 21-14 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 73-78 at the end of the game. The winners were led by British swingman Paul Guede (195-87, college: Portland St.) who scored that evening 24 points and American forward Bobby Davis (200-87, college: Edinboro) supported him with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Even 18 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals by American guard Johnathon Jones (183-88, college: Oakland, agency: Warren Sports International) did not help to save the game for Komarno. His fellow American import forward J.C. Mathis (204-82, college: Michigan) added 14 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Komarno's coach Peter Balint rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Prievidza keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Nitra and Nova Ves. Komarno at the other side dropped to the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with Vahostav-Zilina. Prievidza will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Komarno will play against the league's leader Nitra (#1) in Nitra.
