Regular Season Round 5: Kouvot - Salon Vilpas 85-72

Salon Vilpas (#5) was upset in Kouvola by eighth ranked Kouvot 85-72. It looked good early as Salon Vilpas took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Kouvot took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 13 points. They made 16-of-16 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Josh Gonner (188-82, college: S.Carolina) nailed 20 points for the winning side and guard Antoine Jordan (196-83, college: Siena) accounted for 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Kouvot players scored in double figures. Guard Emmanuel Holloway (188-86, college: Illinois St.) came up with 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) and forward John Fields (205-88, college: Tennessee) added 13 points and 13 rebounds respectively for Salon Vilpas in the defeat. Kouvot (2-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with ToPo. Salon Vilpas at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Kouvot will play against UU-Korihait (#10) in Uusikaupunki in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Salon Vilpas will have a break next round.
