Regular Season Round 2: Toyota Alvark - Tochigi Brex 94-66
Date: October 14, 2011
Very predictable result when top-ranked Toyota Alvark (4-0) rolled over bottom-ranked Tochigi Brex (0-4) in Fuchu 94-66 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Tochigi Brex was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Tochigi Brex 44-30 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). International power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. American forward Lamar Rice (203-82, college: Georgetown, KY) replied with 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Masaharu Kataoka (190-85) added 16 points in the effort for Tochigi Brex. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Toyota Alvark have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Loser Tochigi Brex still closes the standings with four games lost. Toyota Alvark will face bottom-ranked Toshiba Thunders (#8) in Kanagawa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Tochigi Brex will play at home against Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya.
