Regular Season Round 5: Kataja - KTP 95-67

Korisliiga top team - Joensuun Kataja (4-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed ninth ranked KTP-Basket (1-3) 95-67. The game was mostly controlled by Joensuun Kataja. KTP-Basket was better in second period 28-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Jared Newson (195-84, college: Tennessee-Martin, agency: Court Side) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import guard B.A. Walker (188-84, college: VCU, agency: Pro One Sports) contributed with 16 points and 4 steals for the winners. Five Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Bahamas forward Bennet Davis (206-84, college: Northeastern, agency: KMG Sports Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and American forward Tim Blue (205-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 14 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for KTP-Basket. KTP-Basket's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Joensuun Kataja have a solid series of four victories in a row. Joensuun Kataja maintains first place with 4-0 record. KTP-Basket at the other side dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Joensuun Kataja's next round opponent will be Loimaan Korikonkarit (#3) on the road, which may be the game of the day. KTP-Basket will play against LrNMKY (#8) in Lappeenranta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
