Regular Season Round 4: Clermont - Roche 72-88

Everything went according to plan when top-ranked Roche (4-0) beat on the road 10th ranked Stade Clermont (1-3) 88-72 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Roche. Stade Clermont was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Roche dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Stade Clermont's 36. Roche forced 23 Stade Clermont turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Benjamin Thomas (181-82) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 4 assists and forward Moustafa Diallo (200-86) who added 18 points during the contest. Four Roche players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Jonathan Beugnot (201-83, college: Clayton St.) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Bianco Matanga (188-87) scored 16 points and 4 assists. Roche have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Charleville. Loser Stade Clermont dropped to the thirteenth place with three games lost. Roche will face Saint-Quentin (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Stade Clermont will play against CFBB (#17) in Paris and be promoted back to the ProB just one year after relegation.
