Regular Season Round 4: Villeneuve - Charleville 75-70

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Villeneuve D'Asco and 10th ranked Charleville-Mezieres had identical 1-2 record. This time Villeneuve D'Asco used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Charleville 75-70 on Friday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 30-15. But Charleville-Mezieres won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for the former international swingman Emilie Gomis (180-83) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 4 assists. Belgian guard Kathy Wambe (173-81) contributed with 15 points and 6 assists for the winners. Greek forward Zoi Dimitrakou (188-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with 14 points and 8 rebounds and Ukrainian center Valeriya Berezhynska (193-86, college: Rice, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 17 points in the effort for Charleville-Mezieres. Villeneuve D'Asco (2-2) moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Mondeville. Loser Charleville-Mezieres dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Villeneuve D'Asco will face higher ranked Basket Landes (#6) in Mont de Marsan in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Charleville-Mezieres will play at home against Nantes Reze.
