Regular Season Round 16: Volcanes - Barreteros 79-86

Bottom-ranked Volcanes (0-16) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 86-79 loss to third ranked Barreteros (11-4) in Toluca. Volcanes were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Volcanes were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward James Reaves (203-82, college: Niagara, agency: TSS Management) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 9 rebounds. Jamaican forward Mugabe Thomas (193-80, college: Cedarville) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Barreteros players scored in double figures. American guard Larry Morinia (180-80, college: Montana St., agency: ProSportsCareers) replied with 25 points and 5 assists and guard Carlos M. Toussaint (190-91) added 27 points and 4 steals in the effort for Volcanes. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Barreteros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-4 record having just two points less than leader Halc.Rojos. Volcanes at the other side still closes the standings. Barreteros will play against Soles (#7) in Mexicali in the next round. Volcanes will play on the road against Abejas (#10) in Guanajuato and hope to get finally their first victory.
