Another exciting game was played in Bettembourg between fifth ranked Sparta and 8th ranked BBC Nitia where Sparta (2-2) crushed BBC Nitia (1-3) on the road with 43-point difference 101-58. The game was mostly controlled by Sparta. BBC Nitia was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sparta shot 24 for 46 from the free-throw line, while BBC Nitia only scored eight points from the stripe. They outrebounded BBC Nitia 53-42 including 16 on the offensive glass. BBC Nitia was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tennessee Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Thomas Dreesen contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Sparta players scored in double figures. Latvian power forward Janis Poznaks (202-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and American power forward William Arre (199-86, college: Lock Haven, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for BBC Nitia. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sparta maintains fifth position with 2-2 record, which they share with Residence. Newly promoted BBC Nitia dropped to the seventh place with three games lost. They share the position with Musel Pikes and Soleuvre. Sparta will play against Residence (#5) in Bereldange in the next round. BBC Nitia will play on the road against Etzella in Ettelbruck to get more than just one victory in their record.
