Regular Season Round 1: TSU Tbilisi - Olimpi 68-69
Date: October 15, 2011
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Olympus and TSU (#0). Despite it looked like an easy game for Olympus, those rules do not exist in derby games. It's more the case of honor for local supporters and such games have that special and unique approach you cannot find in other games. How else can you describe just 1 point victory of Olympus 69-68. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Olympus looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Olympus made 8 blocks. Serbian center Ilija Milutinovic (213-88, college: Oakland, agency: Global Sports Plaza) fired a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks for the winners. The former international forward Mikheil Berishvili (205-87) chipped in 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Olympus players scored in double figures. Center Tornike Niniashvili (205-82) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and forward Mikheil Panchulidze (192-83) added 12 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Despite that victory Olympus went down to seventh position due to points difference, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser TSU still keeps top place with 0 game lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Olympus' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi .
