Regular Season Round 16: Corr.Victoria - Lechugueros 90-83
Date: October 15, 2011
There was no surprise in Ciudad Victoria where 11th ranked Lechugueros (5-10) were defeated by ninth ranked Correcaminos (7-6) 90-83. The hosts were already 14 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 37-30 Lechugueros' run in the last quarter cut the lead to 90-83 at the end of the game. Correcaminos dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Lechugueros' 34. The winners were led by American forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield, agency: Dream Team Management) who scored that evening 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) supported him with 23 points. Four Correcaminos players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 27 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Deilvez Yearby (198-87, college: IPFW, agency: Pro One Sports) did not help to save the game for Lechugueros. Naturalized American guard Lorenzo Keeler (188-85, college: Cal Poly - SLO) added 25 points for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Correcaminos moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Pioneros. Lechugueros at the other side keep the eleventh position with ten games lost. Correcaminos' next round opponent will be higher ranked Toros (#4) in Nuevo Laredo and it may be quite challenging game. Lechugueros will play at home against Pioneros (#9) in Cancun and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
