We should mention about the upset which took place in Melbourne, where higher ranked Bulleen Boomers (1-1) lost at home to ninth ranked Bendigo Spirit (1-2) 81-93 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Bendigo Spirit. Bulleen Boomers was better in third quarter 21-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Bendigo Spirit won last quarter 23-12. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was international swingman Tess Madgen (180-90) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Center Gabrielle Richards (191-84, college: Oregon) chipped in 25 points and 7 rebounds. International center Liz Cambage (203-91) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and international guard Rachel Jarry (185-91) added 17 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Bendigo Spirit and five Bulleen Boomers players scored in double figures. Bendigo Spirit left bottom position moving up to seventh place. Defending champion Bulleen Boomers keep the fourth position with one game lost. Bendigo Spirit will face West Coast Waves (#9) in Perth in the next round. Bulleen Boomers will play at home against West Coast Waves (#9) in Perth.
