There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Air Avellino (1-1) defeated at home higher ranked CS Bologna (1-1) 96-90 on Sunday. CS Bologna was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-13 charge of Air Avellino, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American-FYR Macedonian point guard Marques Green (169-82, college: St.Bonaventure) who scored 26 points and 6 assists. American forward Linton Johnson (203-80, college: Tulane, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field). American-Bulgarian center Jared Homan (206-83, college: Iowa St.) produced 14 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Chris Douglas-Roberts (201-87, college: Memphis) added 23 points respectively for the guests. Air Avellino left bottom position moving up to third place, which they share with 10 other teams including defeated CS Bologna. Air Avellino will face Benetton Treviso (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. CS Bologna will play against Armani Milano.
