Regular Season Round 3: Niigata Albirex - Toyama Grouses 85-75

Toyama Grouses (#5) were upset in Niigata by eighth ranked Niigata Albirex 85-75. It looked good early as Toyama Grouses took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Niigata Albirex had a 23-19 second period charge getting the lead and Toyama Grouses were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-85. Niigata Albirex had a 20-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Dwight Gordon (188-88, college: Biola, CA) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Masashi Joho (183-82) answered with 21 points and American power forward Devin Searcy (208-89, college: Dayton, agency: Pro One Sports) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Toyama Grouses. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. Niigata Albirex (2-2) moved-up to third place, which they share with Yokohama. Toyama Grouses at the other side dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
