Date: October 16, 2011
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Lapuan Korikobrat (2-1) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by BC Nokia (3-0) 97-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lapuan Korikobrat. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 2-0 record before this meeting. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-73. The best player for the winners was American-British power forward Gerald January (201-88, college: Montevallo) who scored 23 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Darren Townes (201-86, college: Hofstra) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Eric Williams (198-85, college: Tarleton St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Walter Baxley (191-84, college: Mars Hill) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. BC Nokia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with FoKoPo. Lapuan Korikobrat at the other side dropped to the fifth place with one game lost. They share the position with Oulun NMKY. BC Nokia is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Torpan Pojat (#12) in Helsinki in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Lapuan Korikobrat will play on the road against the league's second-placed Forssan Koripojat (#2) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
