Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Athens: Athinaikos (#3) and Panionios (#6). Panionios was defeated at home 60-75 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Athinaikos outrebounded Panionios 34-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for international forward Katerina Sotiriou (187-84) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points and 6 rebounds. British power forward Chantelle Handy (191-87, college: Marshall) helped adding 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four Athinaikos players scored in double figures. Athinaikos have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion (3-0) keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Panathinaikos and Esperides. Panionios at the other side keeps the sixth place with two games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Athinaikos will play against PAOK (#9) in Thessaloniki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panionios will play at home against Aris in Thessaloniki to get more than just one victory in their record.
