There was a minor upset in Kolobrzeg where one of their biggest challengers Kotwica (2-2) was defeated by ninth ranked AZS Politechnika Warszawska (2-2) 97-87 on Wednesday. Kotwica was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 27-24 charge of AZS Politechnika Warszawska, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 13-3. AZS Politechnika Warszawska made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Michal Nowakowski (202-88) who helped to win the game recording 25 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) and international guard Piotr Pamula (195-90) who added 26 points during the contest. AZS Politechnika Warszawska's coach Mladen Starcevic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St.) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Darrell Harris (208-84, college: Rhode Island) scored 9 points and 15 rebounds. AZS Politechnika Warszawska moved-up to seventh place, which they share with defeated Kotwica. AZS Politechnika Warszawska will face PBG Basket (#10) in Poznan in the next round.
