Regular Season Round 6: Levice - Nova Ves 92-68

Round 6 in Extraliga means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Levice where host Levice (3-3) crushed league's leader Nova Ves (4-2) 92-68 on Wednesday evening. The game was mostly controlled by Levice. Nova Ves managed to win fourth quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Levice forced 26 Nova Ves turnovers. The best player for the winners was American forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Michael Bernard chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds. Keller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Levice players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine) who recorded 18 points and 8 rebounds and international center Michal Batka (204-87) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Levice moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Handlova. Nova Ves at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Prievidza. Nova Ves will play next round against Vahostav-Zilina trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Levice will try to continue on its current victory against seventh ranked Komarno on the road.
