Regular Season Round 4: Polpharma - LKS Lodz 81-76

Polpharma has registered their first victory this season after three consecutive loses. The win is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked LKS Sphinx (1-2) 81-76. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But LKS Sphinx won third quarter 29-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Polpharma won last quarter 18-15. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a very good performance for guard Tony Weeden (186-83, college: Chicago St.) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 4 assists. Forward Brian Gilmore (203-85, college: American) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) replied with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and point guard B.J. Holmes (180-88, college: Texas A&M) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for LKS Sphinx. Four LKS Sphinx players scored in double figures. Polpharma (1-3) left bottom position moving up to tenth place, which they share with PBG Basket and Siarka Jezioro. Newly promoted LKS Sphinx dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. Polpharma's next round opponent will be higher ranked Anwil (#3) in Wloclawek and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
