Regular Season Round 5: Zyrardowianka - Trefl II Sopot 70-95

Trefl II Sopot's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they outplayed much higher ranked Zyrardowianka (2-3)on the road game in Zyrardow 95-70 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Trefl II Sopot. Zyrardowianka was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trefl II Sopot forced 23 Zyrardowianka turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Trefl II Sopot especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Zyrardowianka's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Trefl II Sopot made 12 blocks. Forward Filip Malgorzaciak (188-93) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points. Forward Wojciech Fras (203-91) contributed with 12 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Trefl II Sopot players scored in double figures. Center Mateusz Szwed (197-91) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds and guard Tomasz Chojecki (175-84) added 20 points and 4 assists in the effort for Zyrardowianka. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Trefl II Sopot (1-3) left bottom position moving up to tenth place in Group A, which they share with Korsarz Gdansk. Loser Zyrardowianka dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Trefl II Sopot will face higher ranked Zuraw Gniewno (#3) in Gniewino in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
