Regular Season Round 3: Toyota Alvark - Toshiba BT 81-61

JBL top team - Toyota Alvark (6-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked Toshiba Thunders (0-6) in Fuchu 81-61. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Toshiba Thunders was better in second period 14-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Toshiba Thunders 41-27 including a 31-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Toyota Alvark especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. It was a good game for American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Naturalized American forward Ken Tanaka (188-81, college: Whittier) contributed with 12 points for the winners. American forward Chris Moss (204-80, college: W.Virginia) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and guard Yasuhiro Yamashita (187-86) added 7 points and 5 assists in the effort for Toshiba Thunders. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Toshiba Thunders at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Toyota Alvark's next round opponent will be Hokkaido L. (#4) in Saporro. Toshiba Thunders will play at home against Mitsubishi Dolphins (#5) in Nagoya and hope to get finally their first victory.
