Regular Season Round 3: 36ers - Kings 71-94
Date: October 21, 2011
There was a small surprise in Findon where seventh ranked Kings (2-2) smashed bottom-ranked Adelaide 36ers (0-3) 94-71 on Friday. The game without a history. Kings led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Kings shot 24 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Adelaide 36ers only scored eight points from the stripe. Kings forced 20 Adelaide 36ers turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kings made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was the former international center Julian Khazzouh (210-86) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds. The former international guard Aaron Bruce (191-84) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was center Daniel Johnson (212-88, college: Pepperdine) who recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Chris Warren (176-88, college: Mississippi) added 14 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kings moved-up to fifth place. Loser Adelaide 36ers still closes the standings with three games lost. Kings will meet league's second-placed New Zealand Breakers in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adelaide 36ers will play against the league's leader Perth Wildcats (#1) and hope to get finally their first victory.
