There was no surprise in San Martino di L where 8th ranked Marghera (1-3) was defeated by sixth ranked San Martino (3-1) 67-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by San Martino. Marghera was better in third quarter 15-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when San Martino won last quarter 19-9. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Marghera's 26. San Martino forced 22 Marghera turnovers. Point guard Francesca Dotto (170-93) fired 17 points and 5 steals for the winners. International power forward Martina Sandri (185-88) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Four San Martino players scored in double figures. Bulgarian forward Anna Rimpova (183-82) produced 20 points and guard Laura Gorla (177-85) added 6 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. San Martino moved-up to third place in North, which they share with Milano and Udine. Marghera lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. San Martino will face Borgotaro (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Marghera will play against Terme di Cervia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
