We should mention about the upset which took place in Przemysl, where 4th placed MKS Znicz Basket (2-2) lost to thirteenth ranked Polonia (2-3) in a road game 67-74 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 21-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Polonia forced 19 MKS Znicz Basket turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Polonia made 9 blocks. The former international power forward Marek Miszczuk (212-77, agency: Promotex) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and point guard Pawel Pydych (180-82) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Polonia's coach Maciej Milan used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Dominik Czubek (178-75) responded with 18 points and forward Grzegorz Malewski (200-84) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four MKS Znicz Basket players scored in double figures. Polonia moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Start Lublin. Loser MKS Znicz Basket dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with SKK Siedlce and AZS Szczecin. Polonia will meet higher ranked P.Cukier SIDEn (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. MKS Znicz Basket will play against MOSiR Krosno and hope to secure a win.
