Regular Season Round 5: AZS Koszalin - Stelmet ZG 83-91

Very important is a home loss of second ranked AZS Koszalin (3-2) against fourth ranked Zastal ZG (3-1) on Saturday night. Host AZS Koszalin was defeated by Zastal ZG in a tough game in Koszalin 83-91. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of AZS Koszalin. It was a key game for the second position in the league. It looked good early as AZS Koszalin took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Zastal ZG had a 25-17 second period charge getting the lead and AZS Koszalin was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-91. Zastal ZG made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. AZS Koszalin was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Nigerian forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!). International point guard Kamil Chanas (188-85) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Zastal ZG's coach Tomasz Jankowski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Serbian center Marko Lekic (211-85) answered with 21 points and naturalized Croatian guard Igor Milicic (194-76, agency: Alti Sport) added 16 points and 7 assists in the effort for AZS Koszalin. Five Zastal ZG and four AZS Koszalin players scored in double figures. Zastal ZG moved-up to second place, which they share with Anwil and Energa Czarni. AZS Koszalin at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. They share it with Kotwica. Zastal ZG will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. AZS Koszalin will play on the road against the league's leader PGE Turow (#1) in Zgorzelec and hopes to get back on the winning track.
