Important game to mention about took place in Stadrbredimus. Eighth ranked Musel Pikes (2-3) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-ranked Basket Esch (3-2) 76-73 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Basket Esch. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Basket Esch was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Brandon Gary (202-83, college: Hutchinson CC) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Guy Schmit (187-80) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Five Musel Pikes players scored in double figures. Slovakian power forward Stefan Svitek (203-77) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds and international forward Martin Rajniak (204-78, college: CSU Bakersfield) scored 20 points. Musel Pikes moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Residence and Soleuvre. Basket Esch at the other side dropped to the third position with two games lost. They share it with Sparta and Amicale. Musel Pikes will play against BBC Nitia (#9) in Bettembourg in the next round. Basket Esch will play at home against Soleuvre (#7) in Belvaux and hopes to get back on the winning track.
