Regular Season Round 3: Eos - Northland 72-80
Date: October 22, 2011
Damligan top team - Northland (4-0) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat fifth ranked IK Eos (1-2) in Lund 80-72. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But IK Eos won third quarter 22-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Northland won last quarter 21-15. It was a great shooting night for Northland especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 66.7 percentage. The best player for the winners was Brazilian swingman Silvia Santos Luz (173-75, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who scored 20 points. Guard Alexandra Ferm (173-86) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized Russian forward Irene Otamiri (179-83, college: NC-Greensboro) who recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds and swingman Kajsa Lundahl (182-91, college: Alaska-Anch.) added 13 points respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Northland have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Loser IK Eos dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Northland will meet at home bottom-ranked Kvarnby (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. IK Eos will play against Mark Basket (#5) in Kinna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
