The most interesting game of round 3 was a home defeat of 6th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (3-4) by fourth ranked Hokkaido L. (4-3) who outscored them by 20 points 94-74 in the game for the fourth place. The game without a history. Hokkaido L. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi Dolphins' 32 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 40-25 including a 32-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points and 6 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American forward Jai Lewis (201-83, college: George Mason, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) helped adding 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) with 15 points and power forward Jun Uzawa (197-81) scored 8 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Hokkaido L. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 4-3 record. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Hokkaido L. are looking forward to face league's leader Toyota Alvark in Fuchu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play on the road against Toshiba Thunders (#8) in Kanagawa and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
