Regular Season Round 3: Toyota Alvark - Toshiba BT 86-70

JBL top team - Toyota Alvark (6-0) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they beat eighth ranked Toshiba Thunders (0-6) in Fuchu 86-70. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. It was a great evening for American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who led his team to a victory scoring 14 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). His fellow American import forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) helped adding 12 points and 9 rebounds. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American center Scott Merritt (208-82, college: Marquette) with 17 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Yatsutoshi Uda (190-86) scored 21 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. They maintain first place with 6-0 record. Toshiba Thunders lost their sixth game in a row. They still closes the standings with six games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Hokkaido L. (#4) in Saporro in the next round. Toshiba Thunders will play at home against Mitsubishi Dolphins (#5) in Nagoya and look forward to get finally their first victory.
