Regular Season Round 3: Panasonic T. - Hitachi SR 64-72

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Osaka: Hitachi Sunrockers (#2) and Panasonic Trians (#5). Panasonic Trians were defeated at home 64-72 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Panasonic Trians were ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 44-29 second half run of Hitachi Sunrockers. It was an exceptional evening for international power forward Joji Takeuchi (206-85, agency: N.E.T.) who led the winners and scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. Swedish forward Christian Maraker (206-82, college: Pacific) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. International guard Kenta Hirose (193-85) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds and international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) added 21 points respectively for Panasonic Trians in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hitachi Sunrockers have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 5-1 record behind leader Toyota Alvark. Panasonic Trians at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Tochigi Brex (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Panasonic Trians will play against Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya and hope to get back on the winning track.
