Regular Season Round 7: Svit - Prievidza 78-89

An interesting game for Prievidza (5-1) which played road game in Svit against 4th placed Svit (3-3). First ranked Prievidza managed to get a 11-point victory 89-78. Svit was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Svit 46-22 including a 31-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Prievidza especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. Svit was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for American guard David Godbold (196-85, college: Oklahoma, agency: Scorers 1st Sportmanagement) who led his team to a victory scoring 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Bermudas-British swingman Sullivan Phillips (198-79, college: Wash.Adventist, agency: Interperformances) helped adding 18 points. Four Prievidza players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Lamar Roberson (203-86, college: La-Lafayette) responded with 30 points and 6 rebounds and Latvian forward Martins Berkis (199-85, agency: Warren Sports International) scored 23 points (made all of his twelve free throws !!!). Svit's coach Milan Cernicky rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Prievidza have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record. Svit at the other side dropped to the third position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Prievidza will play against Vahostav-Zilina (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Svit will play against Nitra (#3) in Nitra and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
