No shocking result in a game when second ranked Nova Ves (5-2) beat at home 8th ranked Vahostav-Zilina (2-4) 77-72 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 13 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 5 points. Nova Ves forced 24 Vahostav-Zilina turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Pavol Losonsky (203-88, college: Cal-Irvine) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds. International center Michal Batka (204-87) accounted for 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. American guard Perry Petty (185, college: UTPA) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 12 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international center Ondrej Soska (208-78) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Vahostav-Zilina in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Nova Ves maintains second place with 5-2 record having just -1 point less than leader Prievidza. Loser Vahostav-Zilina keeps the eighth position with four games lost. Nova Ves will meet at home Komarno (#5) in the next round. Vahostav-Zilina will play against the league's leader Prievidza and hope to secure a win.
