Regular Season Round 18: Abejas - Pioneros 81-84

Important game to mention about took place in Guanajuato. Eighth ranked Pioneros (9-7) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 10th ranked Abejas (7-10) 84-81 on Saturday evening. The guests were already 13 points ahead at halftime and as many as 15 after three quarters before a 24-12 last quarter charge of Abejas cut the lead to 84-81 at the end of the game. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for forward John Millsap (198-82, college: UTSA) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. point guard Gregory Grays (185-79, college: Detroit Mercy, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Millsap is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Marcus Jackson (202-82, college: Marquette, agency: Court Side) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 19 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and forward Lorrenzo Wade (198-85, college: San Diego St.) added 21 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Abejas. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pioneros moved-up to seventh place. Abejas at the other side keep the tenth position with ten games lost. Pioneros will play against league's leader Halcones Rojos in Veracruz in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Abejas will play on the road against Lechugueros (#12) in Leon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
