The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Panathinaikos (3-1) in Athens on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Asteras (3-1) 60-56. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Panathinaikos. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 15-9 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Asteras made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. Asteras had a 33-22 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Vassiliki Daskalopoulou (178-84) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and Latvian center Zenta Melnika (197-91) who added 11 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American power forward Diana Delva (188, college: Hartford) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and the former international power forward Afroditi Kosma (187-83) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Panathinaikos' coach Giasemi Siamandoura rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Asteras moved-up to third place, which they share with defeated Panathinaikos. Asteras will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Panathinaikos will play on the road against Aris in Thessaloniki and is hoping to win this game.
