Regular Season Round 5: Etzella - Telstar 83-52
Date: October 22, 2011
Bottom-ranked Telstar (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-52 loss to fourth ranked Etzella (4-1) in Ettelbruck. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. The game was mostly controlled by Etzella. Telstar was better in fourth quarter 21-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Telstar to just 7 points in third quarter. Etzella forced 21 Telstar turnovers and outrebounded them 44-29 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Ashley Jones (185, college: Michigan) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 18 rebounds and 4 assists. International guard Lisy Hetting (173-90) contributed with 17 points and 4 assists for the winners. Canadian forward Dale-Marie Cumberbatch (180-88, agency: LBM Management) answered with 27 points and 5 rebounds and center Petra Buzasi (186-78) added 4 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Telstar. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Etzella moved-up to second place, which they share with Musel Pikes and AB Contern. Telstar lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with five games lost. Etzella will play against Amicale (#7) in Steinsel in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Telstar will play at home against Musel Pikes in Stadrbredimus and hopes to get finally their first victory.
